August 31: Day 10 on Paros

We released two doves and an Eleonora’s Falcon today.  Marios had me release the falcon—watching it fly away was pretty amazing.  I’ll probably never see (let alone hold) an Eleonora’s Falcon again since there are fewer than 4,000 of them worldwide and can only be found in Greece (where they nest) and in Madagascar (where they winter).  Wow.
I’ve taken to jogging whenever I’m going somewhere and don’t have my computer or groceries in my backpack.  It usually take me around 5 minutes to find my stride and become comfortable with the heat, but once I get going it’s pretty relaxing…and less time consuming than walking.
