Lively Links

Today is such a lovely rainy Saturday that I decided to share the best things I came across this week a day early. Enjoy!

One of my favorite songs, but in French? Bliss.

Note: pairing this song with a cappuccino and croissant or red wine and dark chocolate is highly recommended.

To increase your brain power, don't skip your daily run (or other form of exercise) when you need to find more time in the day! I'm definitely guilty of this so here's to actually following my marathon training schedule this time around.

Just when you thought Ikea did it all, they upped the ante.

Researchers are now testing the use of psychedelics to reduce anxiety and depression in people with terminal illnesses. Early results suggest that a mild dose of a psychedelic can relieve the angst and fear of the dying as well as help the patient live their last days in peace. Fascinating!

Unbridled creativity that I'd love to have in my home

Considering joining the Peace Corps at some point in your life? Turns out it'll help you get a job rather than being something you have to try to explain to an employer.

What they don't tell you at graduation. Three cheers for some really solid advice and excellent sound bites such as:
  • I know that I'm supposed to tell you to aspire to great things. But I'm going to lower the bar here: Just don't use your prodigious talents to mess things up
  • I also want to alert you to the fact that commencement is like shooting smart fish in a barrel
  • You'll never read the following obituary: "Bob Smith died yesterday at the age of 74. He finished life in 186th place."
  • Performing animals do tricks because their trainers throw them peanuts or small fish for doing so. You should aspire to do better.
If you want more, the full text of the speech is here.

Time for one last Saturday of distracted paper writing. peace.
